The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee is currently holding its meeting in Islamabad to determine the sighting of the Shawwal moon.

The session, chaired by Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad, is taking place at the Ministry of Religious Affairs, where religious scholars, meteorologists, and experts from SUPARCO and the Pakistan Meteorological Department are also present.

Meanwhile, several countries, including Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Kuwait, Qatar, Türkiye, and Afghanistan, are celebrating Eid-ul-Fitr today (Sunday). In the US and Canada, many Muslim communities following a pre-determined Islamic calendar are also observing Eid today. However, in the UK, the Muslim community remains divided, with some celebrating today and others planning to offer Eid prayers tomorrow (Monday).

In contrast, countries like Iran, Oman, Bangladesh, and India will observe Eid on Monday, while Malaysia, Indonesia, Brunei, and Australia have also announced Eid for April 1. Additionally, Afghan residents living in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan, are celebrating Eid today, following their homeland’s moon sighting decision.
