Rawalpindi police on Tuesday arrested the sisters of PTI founder Imran Khan — Aleema Khan, Uzma Khan, and Noreen Khan — along with several other female party members, including senior PTI leader Alia Hamza.

The arrests took place at Gorakhpur check post, where the women had reportedly gathered in solidarity with the jailed PTI founder.

The police also arrested PTI leader Sahibzada Hamid Raza. The arrests have enraged party leadership and supporters.

PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, while addressing the media, strongly condemned the arrests. “Detaining Aleema Khan and other family members is completely illegal and unconstitutional. The court had allowed the family to meet the founder. There is no justification for the administration to block that,” he said.

He clarified that there was no sit-in call or violent activity from PTI’s side. “We did not throw a single stone. We only came here to support the founder’s family. This high-handedness by authorities is completely uncalled for,” Gohar added.
