Renowned Pakistani comedian Javed Kodu passed away in Lahore after battling a protracted illness that kept him away from the spotlight in his final years.
Known for his flawless comic timing, matchless talent, and unique screen presence, Kodu captivated audiences worldwide through his memorable performances on stage, in films, and on television.
With a working span of more than 45 years, Javed Kodu finished more than 150 films, along with several stage plays and TV dramas. He became a star with memorable roles in popular Pakistani dramas such as Ainak Wala Jin and Aashiyana. His role in the popular drama serial Aashiyana, which was produced by Kashif Mahmood, was widely loved by fans.
Kodu, who was widely recognised for his short height, became a household name for bringing laughter into people’s lives. His work remains etched in the hearts of fans who consider him one of the greatest Pakistani artists of all time.
In a recent interview, Javed Kodu opened up about multiple illnesses he had been suffering from. He revealed, “I suffered a brain haemorrhage and became paralysed. Besides this, I’m also suffering from heart disease, had a stomach operation, and have another illness that I can’t disclose on television. I feel weak and tired, but I am content with how Allah has kept me.”
Despite his condition, he maintained a positive outlook and praised those who still kept in touch. “Sometimes Sohail Ahmed, Mahmood Aslam, and Ashraf Khan call me. Meeting Hasan Murad often lifts my spirits.” Farah Iqrar appealed to her affluent viewers to support the ailing artist in his time of need.
