In a path-breaking development for Pakistan's digital economy, Changpeng Zhao, widely referred to as CZ, the founder of Binance, has been named the Strategic Advisor to the Pakistan Crypto Council.
This was formally announced at a high-level meeting in Islamabad, featuring the important stakeholders from Pakistan's financial and tech communities.
The session was presided over by Federal Finance Minister Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb and had representation from the Chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP), the State Bank Governor, and Secretaries of Law and IT Ministries. The agenda of the discussion was to create a strategic roadmap for encouraging cryptocurrency and blockchain technology in Pakistan.
CZ, during his visit to Pakistan, also had individual meetings with the Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister, wherein he talked about opportunities for investment, regulatory policies, and possible cooperation in the tech field.
CZ's elevation is considered a visionary move to welcome Pakistan into the worldwide crypto fold. His worldwide pull and comprehensive exposure to the world of blockchain will be required to play pivotal roles in policymaking, educating investors, and collaborating globally.
