Pakistan New Electricity Rates For Domestic And Industrial Consumers

Following Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif's announcement of a massive decrease in electricity prices, the new tariff structure has now been made public.

According to the latest report, the new electricity rates for different consumer categories have been determined, providing much-needed clarity for households, businesses, and industries.

For lifeline consumers, the tariff has been set at Rs 4.78 per unit, while domestic consumers using up to 50 units will be charged Rs 9.37 per unit. Similarly, protected consumers using 100 units per month will pay Rs 8.52 per unit, whereas those consuming up to 200 units will be charged Rs 11.51 per unit.

For non-protected consumers, the electricity rate for 300 units has been set at Rs 34.03 per unit. Meanwhile, for TOU (Time-of-Use) non-protected consumers using the same amount, the rate stands at Rs 48.46 per unit.

The average electricity rate for domestic consumers has been fixed at Rs 31.63 per unit, whereas commercial consumers will now pay Rs 62.47 per unit. Additionally, the tariff for general services has been set at Rs 49.48 per unit, while industrial consumers will be charged Rs 40.51 per unit. The agriculture sector will receive electricity at a rate of Rs 34.58 per unit.

For Azad Kashmir and public lighting, the electricity tariff has been set at Rs 32.69 per unit, while the national average electricity tariff now stands at Rs 37.64 per unit.

Revised industrial tariff structure

The new tariff breakdown for industrial consumers has also been unveiled. B1 category industrial consumers will be charged Rs 40.03 per unit, whereas on-peak B1 category users will pay Rs 44.59 per unit. The off-peak B1 category consumers will be charged Rs 37.47 per unit.

Similarly, B2 industrial consumers will be charged Rs 42.37 per unit, with on-peak B2 category consumers paying Rs 44.51 per unit, while off-peak B2 category consumers will be charged Rs 41.05 per unit.

For B3 category consumers, the new price is Rs 44.51 per unit, while for B4 industrial consumers, the price remains Rs 44.51 per unit. In the meantime, temporary industrial electricity supply has been fixed at Rs 51.92 per unit.
