Where does Pakistan rank among the world’s least powerful passports?

Rankings assess mobility, taxation, dual citizenship, and more

Most Powerful passports

Ireland ranked as the world's most influential passport in 2025 by the Nomad Passport Index, a body that assesses passports on mobility around the world and other essential aspects.

The assessment takes into consideration five fundamental factors: visa-free travel, taxation laws, dual citizenship, individual liberty, and international image. A thorough assessment guarantees the ranking is not merely an issue of travelling but also the general quality of living and worldwide perception.

Based on the current index, holders of an Irish passport have visa-free access to 176 countries, placing it as the most powerful passport in the world. Besides its unparalleled travel freedoms, Ireland excels in individual freedom, tax regimes, and dual citizenship, setting it apart from other countries.

The next two positions were taken by Switzerland and Greece with 108 points each. The fourth position went to Portugal, followed by Malta at fifth. Luxembourg, Finland, and Norway were tied in the seventh place. The United Arab Emirates, New Zealand, and Iceland held the 10th position.

Surprisingly, Japan and Singapore, previously dominating passport rankings, did not rank among the top. The reason for this lies primarily in their restrictive laws on dual citizenship and taxation, which lowered their overall scores.

Weakest passports in the world

At the opposite end of the scale, Pakistan had one of the weakest passports, placing 195th out of 199 nations. The nations with weaker passports than Pakistan are Iraq (196th), Eritrea (197th), Yemen (198th), and Afghanistan (199th), which had the world's weakest passport.
