The Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) has declared that granting the first wife the right to annul the marriage if her husband marries again without permission is against Shariah.

The council stated that any court ruling granting such a right is not in accordance with Islamic teachings.

According to reports, the CII has also suggested that Thalassemia and other infectious disease tests could be included in the Nikah Nama (marriage contract) as an optional requirement. However, it emphasized that, from an Islamic perspective, marriage should remain a matter of mutual consent between both parties.

In a separate ruling, the CII recommended that Islamic terms such as Salat, Ayat, and Masjid should be used in their original Arabic form rather than being translated into English. The council also urged religious scholars to raise awareness against electricity theft and play their role in discouraging such practices.

Regarding pension funds, the CII stated that newly recruited employees may be bound to contribute to a contributory pension fund, but existing employees cannot be forced to join. The council stressed that such funds must be kept entirely free from interest-based (riba) financial systems.

Meanwhile, the CII postponed discussions on the establishment of human milk banks, stating that the matter would be taken up in a future session.
