Punjab schools to reopen tomorrow, Azma Bukhari confirms

Announcement comes in response to a flood of misleading social media posts

07 May 2025

Punjab’s Minister for Information and Culture, Azma Bukhari, has confirmed that all schools, colleges, and educational institutions across the province will resume their regular schedule tomorrow (Thursday), quashing widespread rumours of an extended closure.

Taking to the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Bukhari stated, “All schools, colleges and educational institutions in Punjab will open as usual tomorrow.”

Her announcement comes in response to a flood of misleading social media posts and fake notifications suggesting that educational institutions might remain closed due to the prevailing security situation. The misleading information created confusion and anxiety among students and parents.

Echoing her stance, Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat also cleared the air, stating that no extension in holidays had been approved and no official notification was issued.
“Educational activities will continue as usual from tomorrow. The notification about holidays circulating on social media is fake,” he clarified.

On Tuesday night, educational institutions across Punjab were closed for Wednesday following escalating tensions between Pakistan and India, which led to precautionary security measures. Officials had asked the public to stay updated through verified government sources for any future decisions.

With the latest assurance from both ministers, students, teachers, and parents can now prepare for the normal resumption of academic activities starting Thursday.
