In response to India’s unprovoked attacks on Punjab and Azad Kashmir, the Punjab government imposed a province-wide state of emergency early Wednesday morning.
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif made the announcement shortly after 12:45 AM, following what she called "cowardly assaults" by India.
All schools and educational institutions across Punjab have been shut down from today until further notice. The decision was made as a precautionary measure amid escalating tensions with India. The provincial government will decide on reopening based on the evolving security situation.
In an emergency meeting held by the Punjab Home Department, strict orders were issued to cancel all leaves of police, civil defense, and medical staff. Hospitals across the province are now on high alert, with all doctors and paramedics directed to report for duty without exception.
Civil defense teams and law enforcement agencies have been deployed to key installations. A central control room has been set up within the Home Department to monitor internal security round-the-clock and respond to any further escalation.
The government has urged citizens to remain calm, follow official updates, and cooperate with security officials to maintain order and safety during this critical time.
