The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has announced an extension in the deadline for filing Sales Tax and Federal Excise Returns for February 2025.
The due date, initially set for March 18, 2025, has now been extended to March 27, 2025.
According to an official directive issued on Monday, the FBR has instructed Inland Revenue Chief Commissioners, Large Taxpayer Offices (LTOs), Medium Taxpayer Office (MTO), Corporate Tax Offices (CTOs), and Regional Tax Offices (RTOs) to implement the revised deadline.
The extension has been granted under Section 74 of the Sales Tax Act 1990 and Section 43 of the Federal Excise Act 2005, utilizing the legal authority available to the tax body.
Tax experts believe that such extensions are often granted in response to requests from businesses facing technical issues or procedural delays. The move is expected to provide relief to taxpayers struggling to meet compliance deadlines.
The FBR has urged all taxpayers to ensure timely submission of their returns to avoid penalties and ensure smooth processing.
