Aik News:Pakistan’s business community has strongly rejected negative propaganda against the country’s GSP+ trade status and urged the government to take strict action against those trying to undermine it.
Leading representatives of Pakistan’s business sector, including S M Tanveer of the United Business Group, spoke at a press conference along with officials from the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry and All Pakistan Textile Mills Association.
They emphasized that Pakistan’s GSP+ status is crucial for the country’s economy and must be protected at all costs. The business leaders said the status, secured for the 2024–2027 period, is the result of joint efforts by all stakeholders.
They highlighted that GSP+ has significantly boosted Pakistan’s exports and contributed to economic growth. According to industry leaders, exports have increased from less than $2 billion in 2013 to around $9.5 billion, largely due to this trade facility.
Speaking at the event, Kamran Arshad stressed that safeguarding GSP+ should remain a top national priority to ensure continued trade benefits.
The business community also acknowledged current economic challenges but said the government is working to improve conditions. They called for more free trade agreements to further increase exports.
In conclusion, business leaders urged stronger coordination between the government and taxpayers to create a stable and supportive economic environment.
