Aik News:An Indian court has sentenced Kashmiri separatist leader Asiya Andrabi to life imprisonment, along with long jail terms for her associates.

An Indian National Investigation Agency (NIA) special court has sentenced Asiya Andrabi, head of the Dukhtaran-e-Millat organization, to life imprisonment in a case related to separatist activities. Her associates, Naheeda Nasreen and Fehmeeda Sofi, were also sentenced to 30 years in prison.

Asiya Andrabi founded Dukhtaran-e-Millat in 1987, a group that advocates for Kashmir’s merger with Pakistan. She has been active in raising issues related to women’s rights, education, and social welfare in Kashmir.

Authorities accuse her and her group of promoting anti-India activities. However, supporters claim the charges are politically motivated and aimed at suppressing dissent in Indian-administered Kashmir.

Her husband, Mohammad Qasim Faktoo, has also been serving a life sentence since 2003 in a separate case.

The sentencing has been criticized by political leaders in Pakistan-administered Kashmir, who called it a violation of human rights and an attempt to silence opposing voices in the region.
