Aik News: A meeting of the Gaza Peace Board was held to discuss the situation in Gaza. Chairman of Pakistan Ulema Council, Hafiz Muhammad Tahir Mahmood Ashrafi, spoke at the meeting.
He said that Pakistan and other Islamic countries joined the Gaza Peace Board to support the people of Palestine. He added that the people and the government of Pakistan have the same clear and united position on the Palestine issue. According to him, some groups are trying to create division among Pakistanis for political reasons.
He said that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Army Staff Asim Munir have always represented the Muslim Ummah on the Palestine issue. He expressed hope that the Prime Minister would once again present Pakistan’s principled stance on Palestine during the Gaza Peace Board meeting.
Tahir Ashrafi said Pakistan’s position is clear:
An independent and sovereign Palestinian state should be established.
Al-Quds (Jerusalem) should be its capital.
There should be a complete ceasefire.
Gaza should be rebuilt.
Israeli violence should come to an end.
He clarified that Pakistan’s participation in the United Nations-approved ceasefire and reconstruction framework for Gaza does not mean any change in Pakistan’s policy.
He said that since its creation, Pakistan has always supported the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination and an independent state. Pakistan has not recognized Israel, and this policy remains unchanged.
He further explained that joining the Peace Board is a collective decision. Other countries participating include Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Egypt, Jordan, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, and Indonesia.
He said that participating in such international forums does not mean normalizing relations with Israel. It shows global responsibility.
Pakistan is part of the forum with clear conditions: permanent ceasefire, reconstruction of Gaza, and progress toward the establishment of a Palestinian state.
He concluded by saying that important decisions about ceasefire and reconstruction can best be made by countries that are present at the table. Pakistan is participating to protect Palestinian interests and to ensure that no decision goes against the Palestinian position. Pakistan’s historic stance remains the same — full support for Palestine.
