Aik News:World Bank President Ajay Pal Singh Banga on Monday visited Gurdwara Siri Punja Sahib in Hasan Abdal, Attock, where he paid respects at one of Sikhism’s most revered religious sites, highlighting Pakistan’s commitment to religious freedom, interfaith harmony, and the promotion of religious tourism.

During his visit, Ajay Pal Singh Banga participated in a special prayer ceremony and joined the Sikh community in Langar, the traditional communal meal symbolizing equality, service, and social cohesion. The visit was accompanied by Federal Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb and Punjab Minister for Minority Affairs Sardar Ramesh Singh Arora, reflecting strong state-level support for minority rights and inclusive governance.
Senior civil and police officials were also present, with the district administration ensuring comprehensive and foolproof security arrangements for the high-profile international dignitary. The smooth conduct of the visit underscored Pakistan’s institutional capacity to host global leaders and international delegations.
Punjab government officials briefed the World Bank President on ongoing renovation, restoration, and beautification projects at historical religious sites across the province. These initiatives aim to preserve cultural heritage while promoting religious tourism, which attracts thousands of local and foreign Sikh pilgrims each year, particularly during major festivals such as Baisakhi.
Gurdwara Siri Punja Sahib holds immense religious significance for the Sikh community and is among several sacred sites in Pakistan that continue to draw international pilgrims.
