Aik News: Pakistan has formally joined the Gaza “Board of Peace” initiative at the World Economic Forum (WEF) 2026 in Davos, following an invitation from US President Donald Trump, reaffirming its principled stance on a sustainable and just peace in Palestine.

Pakistan has signed the Board of Peace agreement aimed at achieving lasting peace in Gaza, as key details of the initiative—established under the leadership of former US President Donald Trump—have emerged.

The signing took place on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum (WEF) 2026 in Davos, where Pakistan joined the Board of Peace at President Trump’s invitation. The initiative seeks to ensure a permanent ceasefire in Gaza, address the ongoing humanitarian crisis, and enable a structured and comprehensive reconstruction of Palestine in line with United Nations Security Council resolutions.

The reconstruction plan includes rebuilding homes, hospitals, schools, and restoring water and electricity systems, reviving economic activity, and ensuring a dignified life for the Palestinian people.

Pakistan joined the initiative alongside Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, Egypt, Jordan, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, Bahrain, Morocco, Argentina, Hungary, and the United States. The participation of Muslim countries is seen as ensuring that Palestinian rights, the right to self-determination, and Palestinian statehood remain central to the process.

Pakistan reiterated its longstanding and unwavering position: the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on pre-1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif (Jerusalem) as its capital, and firm opposition to occupation and collective punishment.

During the event, Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa briefly stopped Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to shake hands and personally thanked Pakistan for its consistent support for peace in Gaza, efforts to end what he termed genocide, and Pakistan’s strong advocacy for Palestinian rights.

At the signing ceremony, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and the US President exchanged cordial remarks. The US President also acknowledged Pakistan’s leadership by gesturing appreciatively toward Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, a moment described by officials as recognition of Pakistan’s unified civilian-military leadership on the global stage.

Officials clarified that joining the Board of Peace does not imply automatic participation in any military mission or stabilization force, a position Pakistan has consistently maintained.

Pakistan emphasized that it continues to avoid bloc politics, instead pursuing balanced, principled, and effective diplomacy, and prefers an active role rather than silence on the Palestinian issue.
