Authorities have issued a weather alert as Pakistan braces for heavy rain and snowfall on January 22 and 23, which could lead to flooding, road closures, and disruptions in daily life.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has warned that all provinces, along with northern regions, will be affected during this period.
The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has urged citizens to stay vigilant and take precautionary measures to ensure their safety.
Areas expected to be hardest hit include Naran, Kaghan, Dir, Swat, Kalam, Chitral, Kohistan, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Shangla, Astore, Hunza, Skardu, Murree, Galiyat, Neelum Valley, Bagh, Poonch, Haveli, and Rawalakot.
In Punjab, intermittent rain and thunderstorms are likely across major cities such as Lahore and Rawalpindi, while Islamabad may see cloudy skies with occasional rainfall and isolated hailstorms.
Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are expected to experience rain and snow in most districts. Sindh will see cold and cloudy conditions, with rainfall possible in Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, and Larkana.
Provincial authorities, including Punjab’s PDMA, have advised residents and tourists to exercise caution, especially in hill stations and northern tourist destinations like Murree and Galiyat.
NDMA has called on local administrations to remain alert, prioritizing the safety of communities during this wet spell.
