Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan met his wife Bushra Bibi at Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi on Wednesday, sources said.
The private meeting lasted 45 minutes in the prison conference room, during which the couple inquired about each other’s health and wellbeing, according to jail officials. They had also met under similar arrangements last week.
Ahead of the meeting, the jail administration received essential items including blankets, warm clothes, fruits, and dates from Bushra Bibi’s lawyer, ensuring comfort during their time together.
The meeting takes place while both are incarcerated in connection with various ongoing cases. Imran Khan has been in custody since August 2023, facing charges ranging from corruption to terrorism, which he denies.
His party has repeatedly described the cases as politically motivated. Last month, the couple was sentenced to 17 years in the Toshakhana-2 case, related to the under-priced purchase of state gifts.
Meetings with Khan have been a sensitive issue, with authorities imposing a temporary restriction on visits until February 8, citing alleged prison rule violations.
Despite the challenging circumstances, the meeting reflects a moment of human connection and concern for each other’s wellbeing amidst ongoing legal and political pressures.
