Court extends interim bail of YouTubers Rajab Butt, Nadeem Naniwala

In a development highlighting both legal process and concerns over safety and fairness, a sessions court in Lahore on Tuesday extended the interim bail of YouTuber Rajab Butt and TikToker Nadeem Mubarak, popularly known as Naniwala, until January 26.

The two social media personalities are facing allegations under cybercrime laws for the alleged promotion of a gambling application. Both appeared before the court under strict security arrangements, reflecting the sensitivity surrounding the case.

During the hearing, the court granted additional time to the investigating officer to submit the case record before adjourning proceedings.

In a related matter, the Punjab Bar Council restored the licence of Advocate Mian Ali Ashfaq, legal counsel for Rajab Butt, after accepting his objections to an earlier suspension.

While reinstating his licence, the council referred the issue to its disciplinary committee for further review. Ashfaq had maintained that the suspension was based on incorrect information.

These legal developments follow a troubling incident in Karachi, where Rajab Butt was reportedly assaulted inside court premises after a hearing, raising serious concerns about the safety of individuals within judicial spaces.

His counsel confirmed that Butt was physically attacked, leaving him injured.

Together, these events underline the importance of due process, professional accountability, and the need to ensure dignity, security, and justice for all involved in legal proceedings.
