Karachi terror plot foiled: Intelligence agencies recover over 2,000 kg explosive material, multiple terrorists arrested

Karachi, Pakistan: In a major success for intelligence and law enforcement agencies, a dangerous terror plot in Karachi has been foiled following weeks of meticulous operations.

The premier intelligence agency, acting on verified information, conducted a timely and decisive operation, recovering over 2,000 kilograms of explosive material and saving countless lives.

During a press briefing, Additional IG CTD Zulfiqar Lark and DIG CTD (Retd.) Captain Ghulam Azfar Mahesar confirmed the arrest of key terrorists, including Jalil Ahmed alias Fareed, Niaz Qadir alias King, and Hamdan alias Fareed, along with two others last night after initial interrogations.

Authorities revealed that the terrorists had planned attacks on civilian targets in Karachi and had rented houses 35–40 km from the city for preparation.

Human and technical surveillance was used to monitor the network while maintaining complete secrecy to avoid public panic.

The operation recovered over 30 plastic drums of explosives and five metal gas cylinders, believed to be smuggled from Afghanistan via Balochistan.

The network was reportedly linked to Indian proxies, including BLA and BLF, operating from safe havens in Afghanistan.

Security officials emphasized that local facilitators were aiding terrorists for minor financial gains and stressed the need for strict monitoring of rented properties and illegal chemicals, such as urea, used for bomb-making.

The recovered explosive materials were safely neutralized outside the city in the Hub area. Authorities reaffirmed their determination to eliminate terrorism and continue pursuing all responsible individuals. Further details are expected to be released soon.
