Ishaq Dar heads to Beijing to co-chair strategic dialogue with China

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Senator Ishaq Dar, departed for Beijing on Saturday to co-chair the 7th Pakistan–China Foreign Ministers’ Strategic Dialogue, scheduled for January 4, the Foreign Office (FO) announced.

According to the FO, Senator Dar is the first foreign dignitary to visit China in 2026, attending at the invitation of Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.

The strategic dialogue serves as the highest-level consultative mechanism between Pakistan and China, providing a structured platform to review the full spectrum of bilateral cooperation, as well as regional and international issues of mutual interest.

The dialogue is expected to explore new avenues of partnership and strengthen the All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership, reflecting the enduring friendship and trust between the two nations.

Initiatives and commemorative activities to mark the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China in 2026 are also expected to be announced.

The Foreign Office emphasized that this visit is part of regular high-level exchanges and demonstrates the shared commitment of Pakistan and China to regional peace, stability, and sustainable development, reaffirming the countries’ resolve to work together for the welfare of their peoples.
