Pop star Sabrina Carpenter tells White House to stop using her music

US pop star Sabrina Carpenter has asked the White House to immediately stop using her music after one of her songs was featured in a video showing immigration arrests.

The video, shared by official White House social media accounts, used her 2024 hit “Juno” as background music while depicting ICE agents detaining people in public spaces.

Disturbed by the imagery, the 25-year-old singer expressed deep concern, stating that she does not want her art associated with actions that harm or dehumanise people.

The incident has reignited debate over the ethics of using pop culture to promote controversial policies, particularly aggressive immigration enforcement.

Critics argue that such portrayals trivialise the human suffering of migrant communities, many of whom live in fear of sudden arrest.

Carpenter now joins a long list of artists who have objected to the political use of their music, urging for greater sensitivity and respect for human dignity in public messaging.
