Egypt’s Foreign Minister Dr. Badr Ahmed Mohamed Abdelatty met Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, on Monday in Rawalpindi, marking a significant step toward strengthening defence cooperation between the two nations.

The high-level meeting, held at the General Headquarters (GHQ), reflected a renewed commitment to advancing strategic ties in a rapidly changing regional environment.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the discussion between the two leaders covered a broad range of issues, with a strong emphasis on enhancing defence, security, and military coordination. Describing Pakistan and Egypt as “two brotherly countries,” ISPR noted that both sides reviewed the current state of relations and explored new avenues to boost collaborative efforts.

A major highlight of the meeting was the shared resolve to deepen strengthening defence cooperation, particularly through military-to-military engagement, joint training programs, and initiatives promoting regional stability. Both delegations underlined the importance of sustained coordination to effectively deal with emerging security challenges in the Middle East and South Asia.

Dr. Abdelatty conveyed warm greetings from Egypt’s leadership and reaffirmed Cairo’s desire for expanded cooperation with Pakistan. He stressed that Egypt values its partnership with Islamabad across political, economic, and strategic domains and is keen to pursue a future-focused approach in line with shifting geopolitical realities.

The meeting also emphasized the importance of regular high-level interactions, especially at a time when regional dynamics continue to evolve. Both Pakistan and Egypt reiterated their commitment to working closely together to maintain stability, address shared concerns, and advance mutual interests.
