Talha Anjum who recently faced intense criticism online after waving and briefly wearing an Indian flag during a performance in Nepal has now issued a sincere apology to his Pakistani fans, acknowledging the hurt caused.

Speaking on 365 News’ Rise and Shine with Nadia Khan and Zohaib Hassan, Talha Anjum explained the context behind the viral moment.

He shared that during his performance of Kaun Talha, a diss track aimed at Indian rapper Naezy, an Indian fan respectfully handed him the flag.

In the heat of the moment, he interpreted the gesture as support from the Indian audience present, not as a political symbol.

“I took it because it was given respectfully,” Anjum said. “I didn’t realize how long I held it. Everything happened very fast.”

His apology follows days of online debate, particularly after his initial reaction where he said he would “do it again”sparked further outrage.

However, on the show, when asked whether his apology was unconditional, he responded with a firm yes.

“To everyone whose heart was hurt, I truly apologise,” he said. “If my people are not with me, then I am nothing. I am all because of Pakistan.

Everywhere I go, they introduce me as a Pakistani rapper that identity means everything to me.”

This incident unfolded during a time when India–Pakistan cultural relations are more strained than ever.

Since the May conflict, music, entertainment, and even social media exchanges have been restricted. In such a climate, what might once have been seen as a gesture of artistic openness became a sensitive issue for many.

Yet, Talha Anjum’s apology reflects the values of humility, unity, and mutual respect reminding fans that art is often created in moments of intensity, but accountability and love for one’s roots remain constant.
