The first trailer for the highly anticipated Michael Jackson biopic, Michael, has already made history, becoming the most-watched music biopic trailer ever.

Within 24 hours of its release, the trailer garnered over 116.2 million views globally, setting a new record for both the genre and Lionsgate, the film’s distributor.

The biopic features Jaafar Jackson, Michael’s real-life nephew, in the title role, with Oscar nominee Colman Domingo portraying his father, Joe Jackson.

The ensemble cast also includes Miles Teller, Kat Graham, Nia Long, Laura Harrier, Kendrick Sampson, and Juliano Krue Valdi, who collectively bring to life the profound story of a musical legend and his family.

Though there has been speculation that the film may be split into two installments, Lionsgate has not confirmed this.

Chair Adam Fogelson emphasized that the creative team is focused on delivering a film that honors Michael Jackson’s legacy, artistry, and humanity, ensuring that audiences experience both his musical brilliance and the personal struggles behind the spotlight.
