The district administration of Nankana Sahib has officially declared a public holiday on November 5 to honor the birth anniversary of Baba Guru Nanak, the founder of Sikhism and one of South Asia’s most respected spiritual leaders.
According to a notification issued by Deputy Commissioner Taslim Akhtar Rao, all government offices, schools, and colleges in Nankana Sahib will remain closed on this day. The decision has been made to ensure smooth arrangements for thousands of Sikh pilgrims expected to visit the city to celebrate the occasion.
A spokesperson for the district administration confirmed the announcement, explaining that the public holiday on November 5 aims to facilitate both local residents and international visitors who travel to Nankana Sahib, the birthplace of Baba Guru Nanak, to take part in the religious festivities.

The notification also highlighted that while educational institutions and government departments will remain closed, essential public services will continue to operate as usual.
Every year, Baba Guru Nanak’s birth anniversary attracts devotees from around the world who gather in Nankana Sahib to pay homage and participate in spiritual ceremonies.
