12th death anniversary of legendary folk singer Reshma observed today

Pakistan fondly remembers Reshma, the legendary folk singer and voice of the desert, on her sixth death anniversary a timeless icon whose songs continue to echo through hearts and generations.

Known as the “Bulbule Sehra” (Nightingale of the Desert), Reshma’s soulful voice carried the spirit of love, longing, and devotion, transcending borders and languages.

Born in Bikaner, Rajasthan, in 1947, her family migrated to Pakistan when she was just a month old.

Discovered at the tender age of 12 while singing at the shrine of Lal Shahbaz Qalandar, Reshma rose to stardom with her hauntingly beautiful renditions such as “Dama Dam Mast Qalandar,” “Hai O Rabba Nahion Lagda Dil Mera,” and “Ankhiyan No Rehen De.”

Despite battling throat cancer for years, her spirit remained unbroken. Honored with the Sitara-i-Imtiaz and Legends of Pakistan, Reshma’s legacy lives on a reminder of the power of art to heal, unite, and inspire.
