Govt begins refunding Rs3.5bn to Hajj pilgrims under regular scheme

The federal government has begun issuing refunds to Pakistani pilgrims who performed Hajj 2025 under the regular scheme, marking a gesture of accountability and relief for thousands of worshippers.

According to officials from the Ministry of Religious Affairs, nearly 75% of pilgrims — over 66,000 people — will receive refunds ranging from Rs12,000 to Rs110,000, depending on their respective Hajj packages.

Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Sardar Muhammad Yousuf assured that the refund process is being carried out transparently and that all payments will be transferred directly to pilgrims’ bank accounts by October 31.

“This year’s arrangements aimed to provide maximum comfort to the guests of Allah,” the minister said, adding that pilgrims were provided with air-conditioned accommodation at Mina — complete with gypsum walls and folding mattresses — for the first time.

He further shared that 30,000 additional slots were added to the government’s regular Hajj quota this year, ensuring more people could fulfill their spiritual journey.

The government also facilitated pilgrims with Saudi SIM cards offering free internet minutes and easy bank payment options for upcoming instalments.

Minister Yousuf extended heartfelt gratitude to Saudi Minister for Hajj and Umrah Dr. Tawfiq Al-Rabiah and Ambassador Nawaf Bin Saeed Al Maliki for their continued support and cooperation in ensuring a safe, dignified, and comfortable Hajj experience for Pakistani pilgrims.
