In a tragic yet heroic development, a Pakistan Army major embraced martyrdom, while seven terrorists were killed during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Dera Ismail Khan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the military’s media wing confirmed on Thursday.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), security forces conducted the operation after receiving intelligence on the presence of terrorists belonging to the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) in the Daraban area.

During the intense exchange of fire, 30-year-old Major Sibtain Haider, a resident of Quetta, was martyred while bravely leading his troops from the front.

The ISPR said the slain militants were involved in multiple attacks on civilians and security forces. A large cache of weapons and ammunition was recovered from their possession.

Paying tribute to the fallen officer, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said Major Sibtain’s courage and sacrifice embody the nation’s spirit of resilience.

The statement added that Pakistan’s security forces remain resolute in their mission to eradicate terrorism and ensure lasting peace across the country.
