PM welcomes Malaysia’s $200m Halal meat import deal from Pakistan as a positive step

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, during his visit to Malaysia, hailed his counterpart Anwar Ibrahim’s announcement of importing $200 million worth of Halal meat from Pakistan as a “welcome step.”

He described it as an opportunity to strengthen trade ties, boost investment, and open new avenues of cooperation between the two nations.

The two leaders engaged in wide-ranging discussions covering trade, investment, education, technology, defence, and tourism, reaffirming their commitment to peace, prosperity, and mutual growth.

PM Shehbaz highlighted the contributions of Pakistanis in Malaysia and emphasized the shared admiration for Allama Iqbal’s philosophy of resilience, faith, and self-renewal.

Shehbaz Sharif assured that Pakistan would fully meet Malaysia’s halal certification and quality standards, expressing hope that the $200 million quota could grow significantly in the future.

Both leaders also reflected on pressing global issues, including Palestine, pledging to work together for peace.

This visit marked a renewed chapter in Pakistan–Malaysia relations, rooted in shared values and humanitarian cooperation.
