Trump's 20-point Gaza peace plan 'not ours': DPM Ishaq Dar

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar told the National Assembly on Friday that the 20-point Gaza peace plan released by US President Donald Trump was “not ours” but stressed that there was no room for political point-scoring in such a humanitarian crisis.

Ishaq Dar explained that eight Muslim and Arab countries — including Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, Qatar, Egypt, UAE, Jordan, and Indonesia — had joined hands at the UN General Assembly to push for an end to Israel’s relentless bombardment of Gaza.

While acknowledging that the final US plan did not fully reflect the collective amendments proposed, Ishaq Dar insisted that the joint effort was aimed at finding a “workable solution” to stop further bloodshed.

Highlighting the urgency, he said, “Statements will not suffice — we need practical work.”

He thanked partner countries for their support and underlined that protecting innocent lives must remain the priority.

Ishaq Dar also addressed Israel’s interception of the Global Sumud Flotilla, which carried humanitarian activists including former senator Mushtaq Ahmad Khan.

He confirmed Pakistan is actively working, with the help of an influential European country, to secure the release of Pakistani nationals detained by Israel.

The minister reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to stand with Gaza and to pursue every possible avenue to protect human dignity and end the suffering of civilians.
