A ship carrying liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Iran’s Bandar Abbas port to Yemen came under attack, diplomatic sources confirmed on Friday.

The vessel’s captain and all 24 crew members, who are Pakistani nationals, fortunately escaped without injury. However, their ordeal continues as the ship remains stranded at a Yemeni port outside government control.

According to diplomatic sources, Pakistan is making every possible effort to secure the safe return of its citizens.

In a video message, the stranded crew revealed that the ship was hit in a drone strike 10 days ago, leaving them unable to unload the cargo. Since then, the crew has been unable to leave the vessel.

The captain has appealed for urgent permission to sail to Djibouti, while the crew awaits assistance from Pakistan’s Ministry of Maritime Affairs and the Director General of Ports.

They also reported that Houthi fighters are currently on board, preventing them from disembarking.

This grave humanitarian situation has left Pakistani families deeply concerned for the safety of their loved ones, with urgent calls for international support and swift action to ensure their safe repatriation.
