Actor Ushna Shah has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic killing of American political commentator Charlie Kirk, who was shot dead while addressing students at a university campus in Utah on Wednesday.

Kirk, just 31, leaves behind his wife and two young children.

In an Instagram story, Ushna Shah shared that while she strongly disagreed with many of Kirk’s views — particularly on Palestine, which she described as the “most fundamental cause of our time” — the brutal loss of his life was heartbreaking.

“Watching a man in his early thirties, a husband, a son, a father of two, be shot in cold blood is devastating,” she wrote.

She offered prayers for Kirk’s family, adding: “The children and families of Palestine will always remain my priority to defend, yet today I pause in grief at this awful murder.

A loss of life this cruel and senseless is devastating, and it is in acknowledging all human suffering that we hold on to our own humanity.”

The shocking incident has shaken the US political landscape, drawing condemnations from across the spectrum.

President Donald Trump, who had credited Kirk for energizing young voters, ordered flags to be flown at half-mast. Former presidents Joe Biden and Barack Obama also extended condolences, denouncing political violence.

This tragedy highlights the urgent humanitarian need to rise above divisions, reject violence, and recognize the sanctity of every human life.
