Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has strongly condemned the role of Afghan elements in the recent martyrdom of Major Adnan, saying that despite Pakistan’s decades of sacrifices for Afghans, blood is still being shed on Pakistani soil.
In an emotional post on social media platform X, Khawaja Asif shared heartfelt words after Major Adnan embraced martyrdom while fighting terrorists. He highlighted the resilience of the martyr’s family, stating that Major Adnan’s mother said she would have sacrificed even ten sons for the honor of Pakistan, while his sisters and wife were grieving deeply. The minister added that when he consoled Major Adnan’s father, he responded, “I am strong, my son is my pride.”

Khawaja Asif revealed that Major Adnan was a graduate of the prestigious Royal Military Academy Sandhurst in the UK, a symbol of Pakistan’s brave sons whose lives revolve around love for the homeland and martyrdom. He emphasized that these heroes seek neither power nor wealth, yet it is because of their sacrifices that Pakistan continues to stand strong against its enemies.
According to the defence minister, the incident involved five terrorists — three of them Afghans and two belonging to the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). He expressed anger that even after Pakistan fought two long wars for Afghans, sacrificing its economy and losing hundreds of thousands of lives, Afghan soil fuels terrorism against Pakistan.
Highlighting the paradox, Khawaja Asif said around 6 to 7 million Afghans continue to live, work, and prosper in Pakistan, with many becoming wealthy businessmen and transporters. Yet, at the same time, terrorist elements from Afghan soil cross into Pakistan to shed the blood of its children. He called it an unparalleled act of ingratitude in world history.
Khawaja Asif concluded by asserting that Pakistan’s survival and victories are tied to the sacrifices of its martyrs, but it is time to hold accountable those who misuse Afghan soil to fuel terrorism and target the nation’s defenders.
