Veteran Pakistani actor and comedian Anwar Ali has passed away in Lahore at the age of 71.

Veteran Pakistani stage and television actor Anwar Ali passed away in Lahore on Monday at the age of 71 after a long battle with illness.

Family sources shared that he had been suffering from complications of the lungs, kidneys, and heart. His health worsened on Sunday, after which he was admitted to the hospital, where he later breathed his last. His funeral prayers will be offered today (Tuesday) after Zuhr at Model Town Link Road, Lahore.

Anwar Ali was not only a celebrated comedian but also a much-loved performer whose career spanned over four decades. His effortless humor and unique style made him a household name, bringing smiles to countless faces.

President Asif Ali Zardari expressed deep sorrow at his passing, paying tribute to his artistic services and noting that Ali’s contributions to the arts will always be remembered. The President also offered heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, praying for strength and patience in this difficult time.

With unforgettable roles in classics like Sona Chandi, Janjal Pura, Nishani (1979), and Khuda Bakhsh (1989), Anwar Ali carved a permanent place in Pakistan’s television history.
