Pakistani celebrity and renowned singer Hadiqa Kiani has come forward with a heartfelt call for those in the most vulnerable areas to take immediate action as Pakistan faces one of its worst flood emergencies in recent memory.
Kiani vehemently urged residents of the Ravi, Sutlej, and Chenab rivers to heed evacuation orders and relocate to safer areas in a video message posted on Instagram.
“Floods are ravaging the country... settlements near the Ravi, Sutlej and Chenab are most vulnerable,”
She warned, citing incessant rains and rapidly rising water levels. She emphasized civilians should,
“Take your valuables and try to find shelter elsewhere so your life, and the lives of your loved ones, aren’t at stake.”
In the midst of an unprecedented flood situation, her appeal is in line with government evacuation orders. As part of rescue and relief efforts, the Pakistan Army has been stationed in eight districts, including Lahore, Kasur, Narowal, and Faisalabad.
Within the next two to three days, authorities fear that the rushing waters from the Ravi, Sutlej, and Chenab will converge downstream, posing a threat of additional destruction to the Panjnad region.
Hadiqa Kiani's message serves as a sobering reminder that saving lives must always come first in times of crisis.
