Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz on Thursday carried out an aerial inspection of Punjab’s flood-devastated regions, with a dedicated focus on Narowal and the Kartarpur Sahib corridor.
Lieutenant General Inam Haider, Chairman of NDMA, briefed them mid-flight on rising river levels, particularly in the Ravi, Chenab, and Sutlej and the ongoing relief and rescue efforts in submerged areas
The leadership received an update on the number of confirmed deaths during the survey: at least 15 people have been killed in the Gujranwala division, including five in Sialkot, four in Gujrat, three in Narowal, two in Hafizabad, and one in Gujranwala.
Three people are still missing.

Approximately 600,000 people have been impacted by the evacuation of more than 150,000 people and 35,000 animals throughout Punjab.
Authorities say millions of acres of farmland have been destroyed and 769 villages have been flooded.
More than 150 Sikh pilgrims and employees were rescued by emergency personnel after the historic Kartarpur Sahib Gurdwara complex was submerged.
The province has responded by organizing extensive relief efforts, setting up 161 medical camps and 263 relief camps throughout the impacted areas to provide essential assistance such as food, shelter, and medical care.
