Floodwaters from the swollen River Ravi have inundated the Kartarpur Corridor and the Gurdwara Darbar Sahib complex, leaving hundreds stranded and prompting urgent evacuation operations.
According to reports, the grounds of the holy shrine, including the ground floor mausoleums, lower staircases, and boundary walls, have been submerged by several feet of water, ranging from two to seven feet.
Due to floodwaters breaching embankments and obstructing access routes, the historic corridor and nearby villages have also experienced significant flooding.
A red alert has been issued by the local authorities for Narowal and the surrounding areas. Boats and, if needed, helicopters are being used to evacuate residents, including pilgrims and employees, to safer areas.
The Pakistan Army and the local government are carrying out relief efforts. According to one report, between 200 and 300 people are still stuck in the flood-affected corridor zone, and road breaches have made it extremely difficult to access the area.

Heavy monsoon rains and water releases upstream are to blame for the flooding, as they have raised river levels. Additional high floods downstream have been warned of by the National Emergencies Operation Centre.
Because of the spiritual and cultural significance of Kartarpur, the Sikh community is alarmed by the flooding and has called on Pakistani authorities and international organizations to take immediate protective measures.
