US Report Exposes India Human Rights Violations Under Modi Government

The United States has released its annual global human rights report, directly highlighting India human rights violations under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government.

According to the US State Department’s findings, India has made little or no effort to address serious abuses. The report states that the Modi administration took only symbolic actions against officials involved in grave human rights breaches.

The report also noted a rise in hate speeches and violent attacks targeting religious minorities. Evidence was presented showing how India’s controversial Citizenship Amendment Act has been used against minorities — a law that the United Nations has already labeled as discriminatory.

Concerns were raised over India’s anti-conversion laws, which the report says threaten religious freedom. It also recalled the 2019 move in the Indian Parliament to revoke Kashmir’s special status, followed by widespread restrictions on the Muslim population’s daily life.

The report expressed deep alarm over the demolition of Muslim-owned properties in several Indian states. It stressed that such actions are part of a larger pattern of India human rights violations.

In response, the Indian government rejected the US findings. Officials claimed the report’s allegations were baseless and insisted that government schemes like food subsidies and electricity supply benefit all citizens equally.

However, international rights observers argue that these assurances do not address the growing concerns over India human rights violations. The US report has once again put a spotlight on New Delhi’s human rights record, drawing attention from the global community.
