In a shocking development, right-handed batter Haider Ali has been suspended by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) after a criminal investigation was launched by Greater Manchester Police.
The suspension comes in light of an alleged incident during Pakistan Shaheens' recent tour of England. While the exact nature of the allegation remains undisclosed, the PCB confirmed the investigation is ongoing in the UK.
The PCB emphasized it is providing Haider Ali legal support to ensure his rights are fully protected during the legal process. It also stressed its commitment to respecting the laws and procedures of the United Kingdom.
“This provisional suspension takes effect immediately and will remain in place until the investigation concludes,” the PCB stated.
The board further added that once the case reaches its legal end, it may take action under its own Code of Conduct. Until then, the PCB has decided not to issue any further comments.
The 24-year-old batter has represented Pakistan in two ODIs and 35 T20Is since his debut in 2020. His absence will raise questions about Pakistan’s bench strength moving forward.
The Haider Ali legal support from the PCB shows the board’s focus on safeguarding player welfare even during difficult times.
