In a major step toward clean energy and financial relief, the Sindh government has launched a free solar system scheme for households consuming up to 100 units of electricity per month.
The move aims to ease the burden of rising electricity bills for low-income families and promote the use of renewable energy across the province.
Announced by the Sindh Energy Department, the initiative targets domestic users struggling with increasing power tariffs. Eligible households can apply for the program until August 20, 2025, to receive a solar power setup completely free of cost.
According to official sources, over 123,000 applications have already been received from across the province. If the number of applicants exceeds the available quota, beneficiaries will be selected through a transparent balloting process, officials confirmed.
The spokesperson for the Energy Department highlighted that this free solar system scheme is part of the provincial government’s broader vision to reduce dependency on the national grid, cut energy costs, and expand the use of sustainable power sources.
Citizens who meet the criteria are strongly encouraged to submit their applications before the deadline to avail this opportunity.
