Pakistan Praised Globally, Modi Faces Diplomatic Setback: PM Shehbaz

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, during a high-level federal cabinet meeting in Islamabad, approved key policy measures aimed at boosting Pakistan’s technological, economic, and diplomatic standing.

The meeting, held under the premier’s leadership, focused on a seven-point cabinet agenda that included greenlighting the National Artificial Intelligence Policy 2025 and authorising the signing of a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with Gulf nations.

According to official sources, the cabinet also approved amendments to the Hajj Policy 2026 and endorsed the decisions made by the Cabinet Committee on Privatisation and the Cabinet Committee on Legislation, particularly those from July 17 and July 25.

Addressing the meeting, the prime minister emphasised the urgent need to accelerate relief efforts in flood-affected regions. "Rain-related damage, especially in hilly areas, must be addressed without delay," he said, instructing authorities to expedite emergency and recovery operations.

Speaking on the broader geopolitical landscape, PM Shehbaz pointed to growing international recognition of Pakistan’s role in recent regional events, especially following the country's military success against India in the conflict earlier this year. "While Pakistan has received global praise, India’s Modi-led government is now facing criticism from its own parliament and international circles,” he remarked.

The prime minister didn’t shy away from applauding the country’s defence forces. “Allah has honoured our armed forces. The world is still amazed by Pakistan’s victory over India, and our soldiers continue to make sacrifices in the fight against terrorism,” he said.

In addition to security matters, the premier praised the Ministry of Energy for its performance, calling recent reforms “revolutionary.” He commended successful negotiations with Independent Power Producers (IPPs), which have saved the country billions of rupees.

Touching on humanitarian issues, PM Shehbaz expressed deep concern over the ongoing crisis in Gaza. “The level of cruelty inflicted on Palestinians is beyond words. Children are starving. Pakistan is sending food aid via Jordan,” he revealed, adding that the consignment would depart soon. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s support for the people of Palestine and vowed to stand with the international community to secure their rights.
