A three-day curfew has been imposed in sixteen areas of Mamund Tehsil in Bajaur district as Pakistani security forces launch a full-scale military operation against militants affiliated with the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). The curfew will remain in effect from 29th July to 31st July 2025, as per a notification issued by the Deputy Commissioner’s office, urging residents to stay indoors for their safety.
The operation comes amid reports of a significant influx of Pakistani Taliban fighters over the past month. Early this morning, intermittent gunfire and explosions were reported by locals, marking the start of the offensive.
According to credible security sources, at least 18 to 20 militants have been killed, 20 critically injured, and four captured alive, including a senior commander Ilyas alias Malang Bacha. On the security side, three fatalities and two injuries have been reported among the troops. One civilian has been confirmed dead, while two others are believed to be injured due to crossfire.
The main Laghari-Trakho road has been cleared and secured by the forces, who are continuing to sweep through the area to dismantle hideouts and secure the region.
Forces deployed:
- Ground units from SSG (Special Services Group), SOG (Special Operations Group), and regular Pakistan Army troops
- AH-1F Cobra Gunships and other Pakistan Army Aviation assets providing aerial support

- Eliminate all militant presence in the region
The curfew is in effect across the following areas: Bad-i-Siah Tharkho, Irab, Gat, Agra, Khurchai, Dawagai, Kalan, Legharai, Kitkot, Gillai, Nakhtar, Zarai, Dambarai, Amanato, and Zagai.
Security officials have urged the public to remain cooperative, avoid travel in curfew zones, and report any suspicious activity to the nearest checkpost.
