Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday declared Pakistan's recent military success against India as a turning point in the country’s defense narrative, saying it shattered the long-held belief that Pakistan relied only on its nuclear deterrent.
Addressing a public ceremony in Lahore, the prime minister praised the Armed Forces for their swift, coordinated response during what he called a “short but highly dangerous” four-day war.
Speaking at the event held to inaugurate the Pak Business Express and upgraded facilities at Lahore Railway Station, Shehbaz Sharif emphasized that Pakistan’s decisive action had enhanced its global reputation. “India assumed our strength was only in nuclear weapons, but our Armed Forces have proved that Pakistan commands conventional warfare supremacy as well,” he stated.
He credited the Army’s use of Al Fatah missiles, the Air Force’s cutting-edge capabilities, and the Navy’s unwavering vigilance for securing what he described as a collective national victory. “This was not just a military win—it was a moment of unity, skill, and resilience,” said the prime minister.
On the diplomatic front, Shehbaz highlighted the role played by international powers. He noted that U.S. President Donald Trump acknowledged his administration’s intervention in bringing about the ceasefire. “That acknowledgment is a significant diplomatic win for Pakistan,” he added.
The prime minister used the occasion to shift focus to domestic development, particularly the modernization of Pakistan Railways. He vowed to turn the department into a fast, efficient, and affordable service for all Pakistanis—not just the privileged. “Railways are the backbone of our economy. With help from China, we’re going to revolutionize this sector,” he said.
According to Shehbaz Sharif, this overhaul will improve regional economic connectivity and create new opportunities for trade and transport. He reiterated that transforming the country’s infrastructure remains one of the government’s top priorities.
