Wrestling Icon Hulk Hogan Dies at 71

The world of wrestling is mourning the loss of one of its greatest icons. Hulk Hogan, WWE legend, has passed away at the age of 71 following a cardiac arrest at his home in Clearwater, Florida, according to TMZ and confirmed by WWE and local authorities.

Known to millions by his real name, Terry Bollea, Hogan wasn’t just a wrestler—he was a cultural phenomenon. With his signature handlebar moustache, yellow bandana, and unmatched charisma, Hulk Hogan, WWE legend, helped transform professional wrestling into a global spectacle during the 1980s and beyond.

Hogan's wrestling journey began in 1977, but his star truly rose when Vince McMahon Sr. brought him to the World Wrestling Federation (now WWE). From there, "Hulkamania" took over the world. Hogan became the face of the sport, headlining the first-ever WrestleMania in 1985 and seven more after that.

He was a six-time WWE Champion, with one of the longest title reigns in company history—an astonishing 1,474 days. Hogan also made waves in WCW during the 1990s, where he reinvented himself as "Hollywood Hogan" and led the infamous NWO (New World Order), one of wrestling's most dominant factions.

Beyond wrestling, Hogan found fame in Hollywood. He starred in action films, made TV appearances, and even had his own reality show, Hogan Knows Best, on VH1. He became one of the most recognizable figures in pop culture, cementing his place as more than just a ring performer.

In 2005, Hogan was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame. His legendary battles with the likes of Andre The Giant, Randy Savage, The Rock, and even Vince McMahon himself remain iconic in wrestling history.

In 2016, Hogan was awarded $115 million in a lawsuit against Gawker Media after the company posted a sex tape without his consent. The case became a landmark in privacy rights and media ethics.

Even in his later years, Hogan remained close to the wrestling world, making sporadic appearances for WWE and even returning for a high-profile match against The Rock in 2002. His final official televised match took place in 2012 with TNA Impact Wrestling.

Following the news, WWE released a heartfelt statement: “WWE is saddened to learn WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan has passed away. One of pop culture’s most recognizable figures, Hogan helped WWE achieve global recognition in the 1980s. WWE extends its condolences to Hogan’s family, friends, and fans.”
