In a powerful show of diplomatic gratitude, members of Iran’s parliament chanted “Thank you, thank you Pakistan” during a special session on Monday—an unusual yet heartfelt gesture that highlighted the deepening ties between Tehran and Islamabad amid rising Middle East tensions.
The rare public appreciation came after Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian lauded Pakistan's support for Iran during its ongoing standoff with Israel. Speaking to lawmakers, President Pezeshkian acknowledged Islamabad’s stance during these critical times, saying, “We extend our hand to all Islamic nations. The enemy is delusional if it believes it can destroy our nuclear capabilities by assassinating our scientists.”
Reaffirming Iran’s commitment to peaceful nuclear development, Pezeshkian called it a “legitimate right” that his country would never abandon. His remarks were met with thunderous applause and emotional chants of “Thank you, thank you, Pakistan”, underscoring a growing sense of Muslim world unity in response to external aggression.
The parliamentary session also paid tribute to Iranian military commanders, soldiers, and nuclear scientists recently martyred in Israeli airstrikes. Iran’s Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf fiercely condemned the attacks, labelling them as “barbaric” and called on citizens to remain united. “This is a time for resistance, not retreat. The world must know that Iran will never compromise on its sovereignty,” Qalibaf declared.
The emotional proceedings followed a strong message of solidarity from Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. In recent remarks, PM Sharif urged restraint but made it clear that Pakistan stands with Iran during this period of escalating violence. “Pakistan stands firmly with the Iranian people in this critical hour,” he said.
This growing display of Iran-Pakistan solidarity reflects a shifting geopolitical landscape in the region, as both countries rally for unity in the face of shared threats. As regional alliances continue to evolve, the chant echoing from Tehran’s parliament sends a clear message to the world—Pakistan’s support for Iran has not gone unnoticed.
