In a bold appeal to the global stage, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has called on former U.S. President Donald Trump to play a proactive role in bringing India and Pakistan back to the negotiating table.
Speaking to the international news agency, Bilawal stressed that India-Pakistan peace talks are essential for regional stability and must revolve around the long-standing Kashmir dispute.
Bilawal made it clear that while Pakistan is open to dialogue on terrorism, a “meaningful conversation” cannot ignore Kashmir, which remains the heart of the conflict. He warned that India’s approach of using terrorism as a pretext for military aggression is setting a dangerous precedent—one that could plunge the entire South Asian region into turmoil.
“India is trying to normalize a new, hazardous status quo that threatens peace across South Asia,” Bilawal stated. “We cannot let the fate of 1.7 billion people be dictated by faceless non-state actors or one-sided Indian narratives.”
Trump has consistently expressed a desire to avoid nuclear escalation between the two countries and has previously offered to mediate in a neutral setting. Bilawal urged him to follow through on that offer, emphasizing that India-Pakistan peace talks need international support to move forward.
In a separate interview with a Chinese media outlet in New York, Bilawal accused India of deliberately undermining regional peace through unilateral and illegal actions on Pakistani soil. He said these aggressive maneuvers are a clear violation of international norms and aimed at provoking conflict rather than promoting cooperation.
Bilawal's remarks come at a time when tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbors continue to simmer. His call for diplomacy and dialogue highlights Pakistan's willingness to engage, but on terms that ensure fairness and address core issues.
