PM Shehbaz Praises Trump’s Role in India-Pakistan Ceasefire, Calls Him ‘Man of Peace’

In a bold statement during the 249th US Independence Day celebration at the American Embassy in Islamabad, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised former US President Donald Trump for his instrumental role in de-escalating recent tensions between Pakistan and India.

Calling Trump a “man of peace,” the premier said the US president had shown commendable leadership in encouraging a ceasefire between the two nuclear-armed neighbors.

Speaking to a gathering that included Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, diplomats, and federal ministers, PM Shehbaz emphasized that Pakistan-India ceasefire efforts received strong support from the United States and other friendly nations. “President Trump advised both countries to choose trade over war and to focus on peace and progress,” he said. “His vision reflects a deep commitment to global peace and prosperity.”

Shehbaz Sharif recalled how tensions had risen sharply following the controversial Pahalgam incident, which Pakistan believes was a “false flag operation” orchestrated by India. Despite offering a credible international investigation, Pakistan was met with aggression. “India responded to our sincere peace offer with unprovoked attacks, killing 33 Pakistanis, including women and children,” he stated.

Highlighting Pakistan’s right to self-defense, the Prime Minister revealed that six Indian fighter jets were shot down in response to the cross-border assault. He noted that Pakistan-India ceasefire efforts only succeeded after diplomatic pressure and timely intervention from the US and Middle Eastern allies.

“President Trump played a vital role in halting further escalation. He proved that he stands for peace, not conflict,” Shehbaz declared. “He urged both nations to shift their focus from warfare to investment, from tension to trade.”

He further appreciated America’s longstanding partnership with Pakistan, mentioning US-supported infrastructure and development projects, including dam construction. PM Shehbaz expressed optimism that Pak-US relations were entering a new chapter of mutual respect and cooperation.

Looking ahead, he hoped for a surge in Pakistan-US trade relations, especially in sectors like IT, agriculture, and healthcare. “Both sides are discussing tariff issues and are committed to expanding economic ties,” he added.

The Prime Minister also drew parallels between the democratic values of the US founding fathers and those of Pakistan’s founder, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, highlighting shared beliefs in constitutional rule and equality.

In conclusion, PM Shehbaz congratulated the American people and President Trump on their Independence Day and reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to global peace and regional stability.
