In a major breakthrough, Islamabad Police have arrested the prime suspect involved in the cold-blooded murder of 17-year-old TikToker Sana Yousaf, who was found shot dead inside her home in Sector G-13 on Monday.
The shocking incident sent ripples across the country, with social media users and citizens demanding swift justice.
According to police sources, the suspect—identified as Umar Hayat—was arrested during a late-night operation in Jaranwala, Faisalabad. He was tracked using CCTV footage, mobile phone location data, and other technical tools. The police also recovered the murder weapon, a pistol, and Sana’s iPhone from his possession, further solidifying the case against him.
Initial investigations reveal that the murder was not random but rather a result of a personal grudge. Authorities confirmed that Umar and Sana had known each other and were in contact prior to the tragic incident. On the day of the murder, Umar reportedly parked his motorcycle near Sana’s house and later fled the crime scene using it. Surveillance cameras caught him running from the area on foot, which helped narrow the investigation.
During interrogation, Umar confessed to the crime, stating that the act was premeditated. The arrest was made within 20 hours of the incident, a move that earned praise from Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, who lauded the Islamabad Police for their swift and effective response.
The body of TikToker Sana Yousaf has been sent to her native hometown in Upper Chitral, where her family is mourning the loss of their young daughter. Her father, Yousaf Hasan, while speaking to local media, denied any family feuds or personal enmities, calling for a transparent investigation and justice. “My daughter’s death must not go in vain,” he said. “I urge the authorities to expose the truth and punish the person responsible.”
The case of TikToker Sana Yousaf murder continues to unfold as police expand their investigation, reviewing footage from Safe City cameras and nearby surveillance systems to map the suspect’s movements before and after the crime.
