Imran Khan refuses polygraph test for fourth time

The PTI founder declines to participate in the interrogation process

02 June 2025

In a significant development, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan has once again refused to undergo a polygraph test in jail, marking his fourth refusal related to the ongoing investigation into the May 9 incidents.

According to reports, a special team from Lahore Police arrived at Adiala Jail around 12:45 PM on court orders, aiming to conduct a polygraph test as part of the investigation. However, Imran Khan declined to participate in the interrogation process and refused to take the test.

Sources confirmed that the former Prime Minister did not appear before the Lahore Police team. His refusal also prevented the team from carrying out the scheduled photogrammetric and voice matching tests. After waiting inside Adiala Jail for four hours, the team had no choice but to return empty-handed.

This was the fourth occasion on which Khan refused to cooperate with Lahore Police regarding the polygraph test in jail. Previously, he had declined the same request three times. The latest police team was led by DSP Asif Javed and included experts from the Punjab Forensic Science Agency.

The polygraph examination is part of the broader investigation into the violent protests that erupted on May 9, following Imran Khan’s arrest. These incidents led to widespread property damage and clashes with law enforcement, prompting authorities to pursue in-depth forensic probes to identify the instigators and perpetrators.

Khan’s repeated refusals have added another layer of complexity to the already tense political and legal landscape in Pakistan. With mounting pressure on law enforcement to close the case, the former premier’s stance is likely to stir further debate and speculation.

As the investigation continues, all eyes remain on whether Imran Khan will eventually agree to the polygraph test in jail or persist with his stance, fueling more controversy in an already high-profile case.
