Imran Khan Appoints Aliya Hamza as Head of PTI Punjab Political Committee

In a significant move from behind bars, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan has appointed Barrister Aliya Hamza as the head of PTI Punjab political committee, stepping in to resolve internal tensions within the party's provincial leadership.

According to sources, the decision came after Imran Khan voiced strong concerns over the formation of a four-member political committee in Punjab. The original committee included Salman Akram Raja, Omar Ayub Khan, and Usman Akram, and reportedly held a higher status than Aliya Hamza’s position—something the former Prime Minister found unacceptable.

Imran Khan conveyed his message through Senator Ali Zafar, instructing the PTI leadership to formally appoint Aliya Hamza as the head of PTI Punjab political committee. He also directed that Firdous Shamim Naqvi be informed of this development without delay.

This bold move underlines Khan’s continued influence over the party’s internal structure, even while imprisoned. The change has not only reaffirmed his authority but also highlighted the evolving power dynamics within PTI’s Punjab chapter.

The confirmation came during an informal conversation with journalists at Adiala Jail, where Senator Ali Zafar, Barrister Aliya Hamza, Ali Imran, and Barrister Faisal Chaudhry shared details about the decision.

Aliya Hamza, known for her loyal stance and active political role, is expected to bring a more unified direction to the Punjab chapter. Her appointment as the head of PTI Punjab political committee signals a strategic realignment aimed at consolidating party ranks in the province amid ongoing political turbulence.
